The archaeological area of Sirolo is a Picens necropolis. Many manufacts articles, vases and two chariots dated to the end of the VIth century BC, were found in this area and are today housed in Antiquarium of Numana.
The legend wants that the Picens were a Sabina tribe, migrating east following the holy woodpecker.
