The museum presents the multi-thousand-year-old history of Ancona through finds, engravings, paintings, photographic reproductions, plastic models and audiovisual materials. The display path goes back to the past providing knowledge tools for the understanding of the contemporary city. A structure in ongoing expansion which is also a door to the Urban Diffuse Museum, starting point for many itineraries around a city which lives and changes over time. The exhibition is spread over four sections; from the town's origins to the year 1000, from 1000 to 1532, from 1532 to the end of the Seventeenth Century, and from French occupation to the Unification of Italy.
