De Bosis' Watch Tower

In 1716 the Pope Clemente XI got the watch Tower built in Portonovo; it was a building with a square plan, a manufactured tower that follows the "quattrocento" features, realised in Conero stones and in bricks, provided with a cover useful for the stationing with fire-arms. The garrison was helpful for sighting and stopping the raids of pirates and smugglers.

Become the shelter of the poet Adolfo De Bosis, frequented also by Gabriele D'Annunzio, today it belongs to his heirs.

It's a centre of cultural initiatives and, if demanded, the tower can be visited.
