The Cònero Riviera

The Marche lies on the eastern side of central Italy, between the Adriatic Sea and the high Apennine mountains. The capital of the region is Ancona; it is on the coast of central Marche. At the south end of Ancona is the Cònero Riviera, a unique part of Adriatic Sea.

There are four jewels on the Cònero Riviera: Portonovo, which should be seen in the sunlight in order to admire not only the spectacular broom flowers but also the magnificent Santa Maria, a fourteenth century Church; the top of Monte Cònero which offers breathtaking views and an ancient Abbey; Sirolo, small but magical, and beautiful both if seen from above or from the sea (especially the "Two Sisters" rocks); and finally Numana, a once famous city, where there remains an important Antiquarium and where the long, wide beaches attract large numbers of tourists.

By car

Getting to the Conero riviera is easy coming from all European countries. A car is the best way of discovering it. If you don't have your own car, arrange to pick one up at Ancona through one of the international companies represented at the airport or at the railway station (Avis, Europe Car, Hertz, Maggiore Budget).

You can easily reach the Riviera del Cònero from Milano or Venice stations.
