The "Cortesi" theatre is located in the historical centre of Sirolo.
This theatre hall has the form of a horse-shoe with two rows of boxes. The first news of a theatre in Sirolo was in 1872 when the Mayor Montanari at a Public Meeting gave the option of a new road to gain access to the beach or the theatre. The people chose the latter. The theatre opened in 1875 and was placed in fortified walls of the city. As it has been bilt with the local white Conero stone, the building is in perfect harmony with the rest of the centre's architecture.
As it has been used the local white Conero stone, the building is in perfect harmony with the rest of the centre's architecture. The facade respects the ornate 1800 style of public buildings at that time. The inside is also organised according to ideas of the period. The end of the century tastes are shown by soberly decorated pilasters and parapets. The theatre hall has the form of horse-shoe with two rows of boxes.
