Housed in the Medieval Castle, built by the inhabitants of Ancona in the mid 15th century on a square plan with keep and towers, and set on a tufaceous rock with t he evident purpose of increasing its defensive potential.
The collection of ancient weapons, gathered and donated by private collectors, is showcased in halls on the ground floor of the Castle. It includes particularly 15th-16th century weapons, dating to the period of construction and usage of the Castle itself. A visit to the museum also provides a chance to explore the courtyard, walkways, galleries, towers and various floors of the Castle, up to the top of the Keep, where a bronze bell is kept, commissioned by Ancona in 1477.
